On Course at Magalies Park

The Magalies Park Golf Course enjoys a tranquil setting on the edge of the Hartbeespoort Dam in South Africa’s North West Province, where long crisp green fairways melt into the surrounding hills and slip into the water’s edge. This prime destination is set on the foot of the Magaliesberg Mountains and combines the best of nature with the best of leisure activities and accommodation.

Here three different tee options cater to a host of golfing abilities, and players will find the course as enjoyable as its surroundings. Guests are welcome to tee off on stunning greens next to the banks of the Hartbeespoort Dam with picturesque views of the foothills of the Magaliesberg Mountain Range every day. The Magalies Park golf course is an 18-hole course designed by Loutjie van Aswegen. Here, the total length of the course is 5864 metres off the men’s tees and 5001 metres off the ladies tees. The course rating for men is 72 and for ladies it is 70.

While the course may not be very long, it certainly does not mean that the golfer can take out his driver and play to his heart’s desire. A number of small trees have been strategically scattered and although there are a few water hazards and no bunkers, this is not a course for the light-hearted, making for a challenging game of golf any day!

The interesting holes are the par-4 8th, and the par-4 12th, which undoubtedly is one of the most beautifully, designed holes on the course.

While the golf course is open every day for visitors, there is a dress code that needs to be adhered to. Dress in casual for a relaxing day at the bar, clubhouse or course however if you attempt your hand at this challenging course please ensure that you wear metal or soft spiked golf.
