Stop in for a tipple or two

This June we are dedicating the month to all the special men in our lives! Fathers, sons, husbands, brothers and boyfriends – treat them to a cold one at the country’s top craft breweries when you next holiday with First Group.

South Africa’s craft breweries trend has grown in leaps and bounds over the past 5 years, with the country’s best-of-the-best truly making their mark over the last 18 months. The likes of local brews such as Darling Brew, Devil’s Peak, Cape Brewing Company and Boston Breweries are currently leading the pack. So why not designate a driver and head off to sample some of our ‘lekker’ local brews?

We have taken the liberty of compiling a province-by-province list on tipples worth tasting when holidaying with us next…

Eastern Cape:

Worth a visit…

Bridge Street Brewery in Port Elizabeth and stay at Kowie River Chalets in Port Alfred

Both touted as South Africa’s best brews and certainly worth stopping by!

KwaZulu-Natal

KZN is, in fact, home to a craft beer driving route – so if you have the time we suggest setting a day aside for discovering the province’s best brews, otherwise stop in at:

The Nottingham Road Brewing Company when staying at Midlands Saddle and Trout, Whispering Waters or even Bushman’s Nek in Underberg.

Otherwise why not take a trip down the South Coast, stopping in at Selborne Golf Estate, Hotel and Spa and visit Basset Breweries.

When you holiday at Magalies Park next, we suggest a visit at:

Qwantani Berg and Bush resort is found in the Freestate, just outside Harrismith and close to the charming town of Clarens, popular for its craft brewery:

Mpumalanga:

This province is fast becoming a popular destination as one of the best craft beer producing regions in the country, we suggest you stop by these ever popular locales when holidaying at Waterberry Hill or Gethlane Lodge.
