Spend a night with the stars

What’s Hot in the Western Cape?

Do you miss the good ‘ol days of movie drive-ins, where you could bring your own snacks, relax in comfort, not have to worry about someone kicking the back of your chair, all while enjoying the fresh evening air? Well, the Western Cape, namely, Cape Town, has recently brought this novelty back in the form of the Galileo Open Air Cinema.

Spend the evening with your loved one, children or friends under a kaleidoscope of stars and reminisce over a cult classic, cuddle up during a rom-com or appreciate an adventure sports documentary.

Venues for this wonderful cinematic experience are scattered across Cape Town, and range from the rolling green lawns of Kirstenbosch Gardens, Hillcrest Quarry in the Durbanville Wine Valley, various wine estates throughout the Winelands route, the V&A Waterfront and various rotating venues throughout the CBD, including chic rooftop spots!

You are able to bring your own picnic to the showing, but as part of the experience there are various local vendors selling scrumptious bites – ranging from pizza, nachos, paella, sandwiches, popcorn, sweets and at most venues – coffee, beer and wine. There is also a comfy chair hire and back rest service, make sure to pre-book these when booking your movie tickets!

Our Cape resorts, including Mount Sierra, Hastings Hall, Riviera Suites, Cape Gordonia and Port Owen Marina are within relatively close proximity to all of these venues, so check out their website and make your booking for the next time you holiday in the Cape!
