If you are Durban local or a recent visitor, you may have noticed a good few micro-breweries producing some of the province’s finest craft beer popping up here and there – a trend growing in popularity throughout this sunshine city.
Over the weekend of the 1 – 2 August, the SA on Tap Craft Beer festival showcased local talent from all over the country and the province of KZN – offering up craft beer ranging from Rooibos apple cider, watermelon and cranberry beer to hearty, award-winning ale and stout.

- Unity Brasserie – Silverton Road, Durban, Berea
Serves craft beer on tap produced by two popular micro-breweries based in both Durban and Hilton – That Brewing Company and Old Main Brewery, respectively. These are just two of the great brewing companies hosted at Unity Bar…

- S43, That Brewing Company – Station Drive, Durban
With the same owner as Unity Brasserie, S43 is a larger expansion with its own, in-house brewery, serving excellent tapas and burgers and offering beer on tap produced by That Brewing Company. Call in at this super trendy spot for some very fine craft and enjoy the electric atmosphere.

- BrewHaus – Kensington Drive, Durban North
This relatively new craft beer digs is fast becoming a local favourite. Offering a stellar assortment of craft on tap and an excellent rock ‘n roll playlist from all decades, BrewHaus appeals to a more alternative crowd with a taste for quality. Additionally, if hunger strikes you can hop on down to Republik just below and feast on one of their juicy burgers!
