Take a Walk on the Wild Side

When it comes to big game spotting, the winter months within most South African game parks yield some of the best sightings – due to the cooler day temperatures. The Eastern Cape is home to some of the most outstanding game parks in the country, each characterised by its own, unique safari experience. Within the Port Alfred area we recommend you experience a day at any one of these reserves:

Kariega Game Reserve:

Described as the ultimate game reserve, Kariega Game Reserve offers a remarkable safari experience situated along the beautifully lush Garden Route. Spectacular vistas abound at the reserve, offering a combination of Big 5 game viewing opportunities, as well as an incredible variety of fauna, flora and bird life. Incorporating five eco-systems, the Kariega Game Reserve can only be described as an experience that is both powerful and authentically African.

1

Sibuya Game Reserve:

This Big 5 reserve offers a truly unique safari experience as it is the only reserve in South Africa that is accessed solely by boat, along the picturesque Kariega River. Visitors are collected at the river mouth, in the small town of Kenton-on-Sea, and the spectacular experience begins immediately. Cruise along the estuary to the game reserve and choose from a number of game drives, river cruises, guided bush or beach walks.

2

Kikuyu Game Reserve:

Whether you are a seasoned veteran in pursuit of a new adventure or you are new to the bush safari experience, Kikuyu Game Reserve will take you on a safari of a lifetime. With over 200 different species of birds, a vast number of game such as impala, bushbuck, blesbok, kudu, wildebeest, giraffe and zebra, as well as a wide variety of flora, this is a nature lover’s paradise. Enjoy each wildlife experience while taking in the beautiful scenery of the Bushman River Valley.
