The annual Club Leisure Group Awards were held on Saturday, 21st February 2015 at an Ancient Rome-themed evening at the Durban ICC. The glamorous function celebrated the achievements of Head Office employees, the Sales division, First Resorts-managed Resorts, Resort Managers and outstanding resort staff members. The award categories included Resort Manager of the Year, Resort Host of Year and Superior Service in Hospitality, to name but a few.

This year Daniel Havenga, Resort Manager of Port Owen Marina, scooped three awards: Resort Manager of the Year, Superior Resort Small to Medium, and Resort Host of the Year. Port Owen Marina is situated in the Western Cape on the banks of the marina in Velddrif.  The resort offers the perfect opportunity for relaxation, fishing, boating and canoeing.

Managing Director of First Resorts, Johann Jordaan, had this to say about the evening, “I would like to congratulate each and every winner and acknowledge the contribution they have made to the company. We are very proud of Daniel Havenga and his consistent dedication and service to the resort.”

The entertainment for the evening was absolutely spectacular! The audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance by South Africa’s pioneer percussion group, 1st Project. They are South Africa’s biggest drumming act and use a variety of African and Latin rhythms. The amazing ladies of Fever Trio provided laid-back dinner music and then brought out the dance beat to round off the evening.
