What do we all wish for when we are about to go on vacation? Clear blue skies and sunshine. That is the perfect weather to go to the beach, catch a tan, surf or go for a coastal hike. Well for those of you who on vacation at the moment in Durban can agree that the weatherman is not being so kind to us. Most mothers dread holidays where they have to stay indoors instead of exploring the town and sightseeing. Although all our resorts have an awesome entertainment program to keep the kiddies entertained and full of energy. It’s always a good idea to be prepared for rainy days.

Below is a list of activities that you can use to keep the children entertained:

1. Baker Baker

Nothing cures a rainy day like a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies. All our resorts units are self-catering and equipped with the necessary cutlery needed for your baking. Chocolate chip cookies always taste good on a rainy day weather you dunk them in milk or eat them fresh out the oven. They always taste scrumptious!

2. Pizza Picnic

Pop into a nearby store and purchase the pizza bases as well as the ingredients. Then lay out the bases with all the ingredients and ask your kids to decorate them. Once they’ve finished, pop them in the oven and lay a picnic blanket down with some plates and cups. The kids will love devouring their own home made creations.

3. Games Afternoon

Use a rainy afternoon to dust off those old board games and enjoy big games fest with the whole family.  A lot of the resorts keep a well-stocked supply of board games in their reception which you are welcome to make use. Hungry Hippo’s, Monopoly, Rummy there is lots of fun games that can be enjoyed by all the family.  Another good idea to do with the kids is to allow them to design their own game with their own characters and rules.

4. Card Houses

Grab a pack of cards and teach your child how to build a stackable card house. You can make it fun by setting a timer or competing against each other to see who can get the tallest house before all the cards fall to the ground.
