Many charities and organizations get involved with local events that support this cause. For the rest of the month the front line staff at Gethlane Lodge will be dressed in Pink on Friday’s and the Managers will be wearing a Pink Ribbon. Gethlane Lodge is situated in Burgersfort and also managed by one of South Africa’s largest resort and hotel management company, First Resorts.
Breast Cancer is the most common form of cancer for woman in all races. The aim of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is to raise funds and increase the nation’s knowledge. Through education and awareness it is hoped that more woman will have a better understanding of the virus and also be encouraged to go for regular examinations.
Resort Manager, John Turner had this to say, “Our resort is fairly isolated and we wanted to be able to do something that could draw attention and in a small way contribute towards Breast Cancer Awareness Month. That is why we decided to allow for the staff to dress in Pink on a Friday. By promoting it this way we appeal directly to our guests and staff and also indirectly through our Facebook page.”
